Travel Guide To Osmeña Peak & Dalaguete Beach Park

What is a better way to de-stress than to be reunited with the nature? Imagine sitting down under the palm tree while listening to waves clashing, or climbing to the top of the world and enjoying the tranquility as the water and sky blend together as if there were no horizons. These are just some of the things you could do in Dalaguete for only Php 542!

Dalaguete is located in the southern part of Cebu. It is just 2-3 hours drive from the city proper. Dalaguete offers a lot of wonderful go-to places from beaches to mountains. Our first stop in this one-day trip is Dalaguete Beach Park or also known as Casay Beach.

Dalaguete Beach Park/Casay Beach is a beautiful public white beach. It has a clear water and grainy sand. They have cottages or tables that you could rent and a karaoke too! There is no corkage, so you may bring much food and drinks as you want.

Next stop if Osmeña Peak. It stands 1,013 meters above sea level. While on the way to the jump-off point, you will pass by remote villages inhabited mostly by vegetable farmers. You can also see a wide garden with vegetables planted on it. Upon reaching the jump-off point, you have to drop by the registration area and pay the entrance fee. They also offer tour guides but in our case, we got a child and haggled the fee for Php 100 only. You may also opt not to get a tour guide since trekking is easy because there are just trails to guide you. The temperature gets colder as you trek to the peak. It will take you 20-30 minutes to reach the peak and the view will justify the sweat that you have exhausted.

Upon reaching at the peak, it will give you a scenic view of the hills. We went there for the sunset and the hike would also be great all morning to see you the sunrise. If you wish to have an overnight stay, you may bring your own tent and there is a specific place where you could build it. Camping fee is Php 50/person. I have seen a lot of trash left in the camping site and that saddens me. Guys, let us practice to leave no trace.

How to get there?

Ride a bus bound for Oslob/Santander at Cebu South Terminal. The travel time is approximately 3 hours and fare is Php 106. Tell driver or conductor to drop you off at Dalaguete's Junction point. From there, ride a habal-habal or motorcycle to Osmena Peak's jumping off point. The fare will be Php 100/head if there are two of you. If you are riding alone, it will cost you Php 200/head. That is a one-way fare only; thus, round trip fare is Php 200/head (if you are sharing it with someone else) or Php 400 (alone). The travel time is about 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Sample itinerary with expenses

Bus fare (roundtrip) - Php 212
